Summer.. she burns through the living room window as I sit at my drawing table and type my very last mail to you for 2016. My mind reflects on the past year and I embrace the nostalgic energy that washes over me…. What a year It has been! Stepping into my small business in between my most important roles at home as a mother and wife, I embarked upon 2016 with the intention to create a little more space in allowing myself to grow as an artist and it has been quite the journey! From the beginnings of the Washing Line works in both painting and tattoo that I began a year ago, the road trips to mahi tā moko, the 100 Days project and the Wā Hine collective are just a few amongst the many epic highlights of 2016. This year has brought forth many challenges, sacrifices and also an abundance of celebrations! Most importantly, it has been a true testament of the self. I can quite happily move forward in knowing that 2016’s many lessons have moulded me for the betterment of what’s to come. It has been a wonderful year watching my young family grow. We continue to nurture each other and are really recognizing a deeper understanding of the importance of balance. The festive season is totally embraced in our home for we can finally allow ourselves to wind down, making time to enjoy the simple and greater things in life. I count myself so very blessed to have the best of both worlds. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for your amazing support in being part of my creative journey. I wish you safe and happy festive holidays in whatever you are doing, wherever you may be in the world and I look forward to sharing more of what’s to come for 2017! nga mihi arohanui MamaSez x
